Shooting Star Wildflower Seeds

$505

Dodecatheon hendersonii

Shooting Star is a small but stunning wildflower native to southwestern BC and California. Rarely taller than 30cm (1ft), Shooting Star nevertheless dazzles grassy Gary oak meadows. The colourful magenta to lavender petals turn back delicately from the yellow stamens and pistil which are shaped like a spear.

Also called peacock, this beautiful spring flower is easily grown from seed. It grows best in well-drained soil, full sun or light shade, and blooms from March to May.

Hardiness zones - 4-8
