Shrubby Penstemon Wildflower Seeds
Penstemon fruticosus
This plant is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful of the native penstemons. It grows as a low shrub 10-15cm (4-6in) tall. Shrubby Penstemon has dark green leaves and spectacular purple to lavender flowers which are frequented by hummingbirds and bees. It is most commonly found east of the Cascade Mountains on gravelly slopes and rock outcrops.
In a garden setting, it is most suited for full sun to partial shade in nutrient-poor soils under dry conditions, thus making it an ideal plant for a drought-tolerant garden.
